Il tuo cloud, per la produttività al lavoro e nella vita privata
Getting married is a milestone that many people look forward to. Wearing a wedding dress and walking down the aisle surrounded by people you love is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but sometimes life can be unpredictable.
This Valentine’s Day saw a marriage between a mother and her best friend.
A mom married her platonic best friend so that she could experience a wedding in her final three months.
Kerry Kenworthy, a 34-year-old mother of three children, was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in September 2021 after doctors found abnormal cells in a pap test.
Kerry, a developmental psychologist residing in the U.K., received chemotherapy and radiotherapy for two months until doctors declared she was in remission. And in August 2022, she was given the “all-clear,” according to DailyMail.
Everything was fine until November when she started to experience chest pains. She went to Bedford Hospital, where they took tests that revealed the cancer had spread to her spine. Doctors informed her that they were unable to cure her.
“I was shocked, I thought I had beaten it,” Kerry said. “I still had so much to do, and the doctors said I had just 12-18 months left.”

Kerry’s diagnosis did not stop her from having a wedding.
Days after getting diagnosed, Kerry confided in her best friends, Sian Higgins and Claire Olivia, that she had “deep sadness” over not being able to experience getting married.
“I wouldn’t see my kids get married or even myself. I wanted that special day I had heard so much about, and to wear the dress and be the bride. I wanted a day of fairy tales,” Kerry said.
After a week of Kerry and Sian joking around about marrying each other, Sian popped the question to her in January.
“I didn’t want her to miss out on such a fun part of life,” Sian said. “We had met through mutual friends over three years and hit it off. We both had kids so we went to parks and hung out.”
Along with a group of friends, they began to plan the wedding. Word spread, and local businesses started to chip in for their big day.
Kerry and Sian received a venue, cake, catering and decorations.
Rose’s Bridal Boutique in Bedford gifted the bridesmaid dresses, and Sian and her friends bought Kerry’s wedding gown from the same store with money they raised between each other.
On top of getting ready for her big day, Kerry wanted to help others.
Sian helped shave Kerry’s hair to raise money for Maggie's Centres, a charity for cancer patients and their families.
On Valentine’s Day, Kerry and Sian held the wedding.
They were married by a family friend in a small ceremony of 70 guests. Sian’s husband stood next to her as her best man.
“My husband was so supportive, and even helped me with my tie for the day,” Sian said.
Following the ceremony and cake-cutting, they had their first dance. Sian surprised her with a performance of “Heroes” by Mariah Carey.
“It was so nerve-wracking, but when we weren’t crying we were laughing,” Kerry said. “I felt so beautiful for the first in a long time.”
Some family members and close friends gave speeches, then the wedding concluded.
But Sian and Kerry aren’t done as they are trying to plan a honeymoon. Sian and Claire Olivia set up a GoFundMe for Kerry.
“Kerry’s battle is to do as much as possible with her family before she has to go, which is why we have set this up,” the fundraising description reads. “So there is no financial burden holding her back and for the girls future.”
On top of Kerry’s ex-partner planning to raise the children after she’s gone, Sian also promised to help look after them.

LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne boasts a fervent fan base and finally competed in front of supporters in her fist event of the year.
The 20-year-old had been dealing with an injury, but on Friday she helped lift No. 8 LSU to victory over No. 9 Alabama by a score of 197.975-197.925.
Dunne did her part by scoring a 9.825 on bars.

The Tigers are set to return to action March 3. Dunne has become a social media sensation and has more than 3.7 million Instagram followers.
LSU'S OLIVIA DUNNE CLAPS BACK AT CRITICS OVER NIL DEALS: 'IS THIS TOO MUCH?'
Dunne's sister, Julz, decided to celebrate the win via social media.
"Don’t mind the screaming," Julz captioned an Instagram story post showing a television screen with her sister competing.
Dunne is in her junior year at LSU and has had massive crowds show up to her meets.
The fan attention has prompted police to increase security measures at her meets, and LSU has implemented new security measures.
In January, Dunne tweeted that she appreciated the support from the fans but urged them to be more respectful.
"I will always appreciate and love the support from you guys, but if you come to a meet, I want to ask you to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community as we are just doing our job," she wrote.
Dunne is one of the most followed collegiate athletes on social media.
According to On3 Sports, Dunne has an NIL valuation of $2.3 million. She reportedly earns around $2 million with various sponsorships, including the activewear brand Vuori, American Eagle and Planet Fuel. Dunne is also signed to the WME Sports agency.
When Dunne first started at LSU in 2021, she made the SEC’s First-Year Academic Honor Roll and was a WCGA Academic All-American. She was a WCGA All-American in the uneven bars and, in 2022, was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani sold their Atherton, California, home — 227 Park Lane — for an incredible $15.8 million in April 2022. But for someone who was once "America’s youngest female billionaire," the opulence of the property is no surprise.
Holmes and Balwani sold the home after she was convicted in January 2022 of defrauding investors while running her failed blood-testing startup Theranos and before she was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison.
Take a look inside this gorgeous house, its grounds and the places where Theranos business deals were made.
More Than Just a 'Dropout'
Even if you didn’t watch the Theranos scandal unfurl in real-time, you've likely heard about "The Dropout," which aired its last show on April 7, 2022. Starring Amanda Seyfried as Holmes, Hulu’s original series covers the infamous scandal from inception to arrest.
Holmes founded Theranos in 2003, but it wouldn’t reach widespread notoriety until 2015 — when the company was valued at $9 billion based on fraudulent technology. Theranos was going to be a radical new technology that would revolutionize blood testing because of the little amount of blood it required.
Because of the startup's initial success, Holmes and her business partner boyfriend, Sunny Balwani, were able to purchase 227 Park Lane in 2013 for $9 million.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annually give Oscar awards to outstanding individuals and works of arts that the board deems excellent – but as much as it sounds lovely to earn one, these awards are not easy to come by. They require hard work and exceptional talent to snatch such recognition, however, what may be more difficult is gaining the attention of award-giving bodies.
That’s why the Academy Awards, also called the Oscars, is the biggest event in the entertainment industry that happens once a year. It’s one of the most-awaited nights where fans can see their idols in their expensive gowns and suits but more than that, it has become an avenue to appreciate and recognize artists who have given exceptional performances over the year. For Leonardo DiCaprio, his big Oscar-winning moment came only in 2016 after many nominations.

What’s more, he waited 22 years before he finally earned an Oscar nomination for his film “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”. Because he was always snubbed by the Academy Awards, he became the star in hordes of memes circulating around the internet. However, it is worth noting that he is not the record-holder when it comes to being snubbed despite their wonderful performances. Here are a few of the Academy Award records.
Kevin O’Connell
If you wondered where you’ve read this name, then don’t bother thinking too much. Chances are, you may not have seen him on the big screen, at least as an actor, but his name is still in credits of some of the films he has helped with. Kevin O’Connell is not a thespian, but rather a sound mixer who surely knows what he’s doing behind the scenes, no questions asked.

He holds the record for the most number of Oscar nominations (without a win) for a non-acting category. O’Connell has over 20 nominations under his belt including films like “Transformers,” “Top Gun,” and “Armageddon.” It may have been irritating to always be present on the awards night only to find out that someone bested you out again, but last year was different – he proved that 21st time is the charm as he snatched an award for his work in the Mel Gibson-starrer “Hacksaw Ridge.”
Peter O’Toole
This multi-hyphenate actor, both on stage and on film, died on Dec. 14, 2013, but not before he showed the world his stellar performances and proved his utmost respect for his craft. Although “Titanic” actor DiCaprio’s four nominations without a win for acting are widely zoomed in on, there have been other actors who experienced more letdowns.
Peter O’Toole has the most number of nominations without a win at eight times, as compared to Amy Adams’ five, Glenn Close and Deborah Kerr’s six, and Richard Burton’s seven.
Meryl Streep
The most nominated actress is none other than Meryl Streep, who had proven her competence in both acting and singing. She had been nominated for a whopping 20 times for her successful films like “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Julie & Julia,” “Into The Woods,” and “Music of The Heart.” Even so, she had won three Oscars for “Kramer vs Kramer” (best-supporting actress), “Sophie’s Choice,” and “The Iron Lady” (both best actress).
Walt Disney

The person who has the most number of gold statuettes is none other than Walt Disney with a record 22 awards out of the 59 nominations — but this number does not include the four honorary awards he received all throughout his colorful career. His first nod from the critics was for the 1932 cartoon “Flowers and Trees,” and the last one in 1968 for “Winnie The Pooh and the Blustery Day,” awarded posthumously. His first honorary Oscar was in 1932 because of Mickey Mouse.
‘Titanic,’ ‘Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King,’ and ‘Ben-Hur’
These three films hold the record for having the most number of Oscar awards with 11 each. “Ben-Hur,” released in 1959, didn’t get the award for the best-adapted screenplay, which, obviously it was nominated for. “Titanic,” meanwhile, did not take home the gold statuette for three categories, namely best-supporting actress (Gloria Stuart), best actress (Kate Winslet), and best makeup. Interestingly, DiCaprio, who played Jack opposite Winslet’s Rose, was not nominated. As for the 2003 film “Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King,” it didn’t ace the best sound mixing category.
Rare are the films today that reflect on the sad past of Hollywood itself. Frankly speaking, every new movie that has come out in the last five years is all about the glorification of Hollywood. On the other hand, other blockbuster movies of recent years are about innovations and the future of Hollywood.
Take “Top Gun: Maverick” as an example here. Essentially, the movie provokes patriotism. It illustrates how Hollywood can be effectively used to promote patriotism and to appreciate the sacrifices of military personnel.
But “Babylon” is a whole different movie of our time. It does not glorify the present nor does it eulogizes the unseen future. Instead, it sheds a phenomenal light on the depravity, decadence, and decay of the 1920s Hollywood dreamers.
According to early reports, Chazelle did not make up his assumptions about the early days of Hollywood. Instead, he conducted ruthless research to come to the conclusion that the Hollywood of the 1920s was pretty scandalous. The film depicts how the filmmaking of the 1920s was a victim of depravity, decadence, and excess.
Throughout the movie, Chazelle makes it pristinely clear that the filmmaking of the 1920s was corrupt. Not only the studios were scandalous back then, though. Instead, the stars who used to perform on the big screens were also part of a system that was based on corruption.
Thus, “Babylon” is a blockbuster film that reveals the darker side of the early days of Hollywood. Commenting on the vision behind “Babylon,” producer Damien Chazelle argues that during the 1920s, Hollywood was a bizarre kind of madness. Free speech was not a thing, the producer of “Babylon” argues. Furthermore, Chazelle argues that prior to the 1920s, people have a “much freer” sense of living a free life.
However, it is essential to note that the film features some big names in Hollywood. Brad Pitt, who plays Jack Conrad, is the leading character who performs the depravity of the 1920s filmmaking industry. Similarly, Olivia Wilde, Ina Conrad, is another star featured in “Babylon.”
Scandals of 1920s Hollywood in “Babylon”
Commenting on the scandalous nature of 1920s’ Hollywood, Mark Lynn Anderson – the author of “Twilight of the Idols,” also goes ruthless. Both the system and stars were part of the corruption back then, he argues.
However, there are many scandals of 1920s Hollywood that the movie highlights. One of the most patent scandals among them is the wide usage of drugs and excessive consumption of alcohol.
Orville Pickwick is a minor character in “Babylon” who depicts the ruthless murder of Arbuckle, better known as Fatty, back in the 1920s. Although the film does not directly alleges the murderers, it shows that were numerous drugs and alcohol sprinkled around the murderer of Fatty.
Thus, there are hundreds of occasions where the film makes the scandals of 1920s filmmaking. It will not be wrong to say that “Babylon” is a threadbare depiction of the 1920s Hollywood decadence, depravity, and excess.
With everything going on in modern schools in the U.S., one would assume that a student’s clothing would be the least of educators’ worries.
Unfortunately, we may be mistaken and dress codes are still strictly enforced in schools across the country.
One mother proved this to be true after she received a call from her daughter’s school that she had been dress coded and needed a change of clothes.
When she arrived, she could not believe the outfit that had gotten the teenager sent down to the principal’s office.
The woman’s daughter was dress-coded for ‘3 centimeters’ of her skin being exposed.
In a TikTok video that has racked up over 5 million views, Jessi Vines gave viewers a glimpse of her daughter’s outfit that she wore to school.
Standing in the center of the principal’s office, the girl wears converse shoes, a pair of high-waisted jeans, and a T-shirt with a sweatshirt wrapped tightly around her waist.
In the video, the only portions of the skin that are visible are the small gap between her shoes and the cuffs of her jeans, and her arms.
In the comments section of her video, the mother clarified that only three centimeters of her daughter’s stomach were visible when she was not wearing the sweatshirt around her.
Vines was shocked and disgusted that her daughter had been dress-coded over her seemingly very appropriate outfit.
The mother called for dress codes to be abolished in schools.
“Dress codes are outdated, sexist, and send the wrong message to kids,” she wrote in the text overlay of her video. “Stop teaching children that covering up is more important than learning.”
Vines blamed the school districts for not adequately paying their staff and allowing minor issues like this to become such a big ordeal.
“If schools would pay their educators their worth, we wouldn’t have low lives crawling the schools looking for a reason to disrupt kids' days,” she captioned her video. “Focus on what matters and do better.”
In a follow-up video, Vines provided a more detailed account of why the teenager was dress-coded.
Speaking for herself, the girl explains that while she was in the cafeteria eating lunch when she was approached by a lunch aide who instructed her to throw her food away and report to the principal’s office due to her outfit.
Vines’ daughter says she was “confused” considering that her stomach was barely visible and that as a student she was seated at a desk most of the day and there was a minimal chance of her peers noticing it.
She added that she was wearing her sweatshirt over her T-shirt ever since she arrived at school.

“If you’re worried about 3 centimeters of skin- that’s a you problem and not a her problem,” the mother wrote in the video’s caption.
She noted that she had approved the girl’s outfit before she went to school and unfortunately they live in a conservative area of Texas where dress codes are enforced.
“My daughter is happy, healthy, smart, beautiful, and THRIVING,” she proudly proclaimed.
“I applaud her and encourage her to embrace her individual style, wear what she feels good in, and stand up for what she believes in.”
TikTok users praised the mother and daughter and slammed dress codes in the comments section.
“You look beautiful. Absolutely nothing wrong with your outfit!” one user commented.
“This outfit is perfectly fine! I see kids wearing less nowadays!” another user pointed out.
“As a teacher… you look super cute! You are showing barely any skin… I am sorry you went through this,” another user wrote.
“She got dress coded because a middle age woman projected her insecurities on a lovely little girl,” another user suggested.

Vivica A. Fox fans probably shouldn't expect to see her back on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" again anytime soon. In a feud you probably weren't expecting, it turns out Fox and Jimmy Kimmel actually have a history of bad blood between them, which — in what's probably even more of an unexpected twist — also involves none other than Star Jones.
For a little context, back in the day, Kimmel had a bit of a penchant for poking fun at the former "The View" co-host. The late night host made a few snide remarks about her around the same time Jones married her now former husband Al Reynolds in 2004. As you may or may not remember, Fox served as a bridesmaid during Jones and Reynolds' big day (alongside Holly Robinson Peete), proving these two are super close friends.
That leads us to a pretty sticky situation between Fox and Kimmel that all blew up when the latter interviewed the former on his late-night talk show...
Vivica A. Fox Had A Frosty Interview With Jimmy Kimmel
For this one, we're throwing it back to 2005 when Vivica A. Fox appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and didn't exactly get the introduction she was hoping for. Though footage of the awkward interview has pretty much been scrubbed from the internet, Kimmel began on a bit of a sour note by stating a few of the "Independence Day" star's achievements before adding, "...and most harrowing of all, Star Jones' bridesmaid." The two then had an awkward interview, as Fox told him, "We usually have really great comical moments, but that's my friend and I love her... It's not funny to me, so let's start over." But Kimmel pushed things further. "I'm desperate to make this work. You know what? The four of us should get together — me, you, Star, and Al [Reynolds]," he told her, to which Fox responded, "You would get your a** kicked" — and walked off.
Fast-forward to 2014 when Kimmel made an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," and made it clear he would never have Fox back after the interaction. He gave more insight into why Fox was so frosty, claiming, "She may have been invited to Star Jones' wedding and I may have asked her if I could be the date to that wedding and Star Jones may hate me and may have yelled at her and she may have been very angry when [Fox] came back to our show."
Vivica A. Fox Was Surprised To Learn Of Her Jimmy Kimmel Live! Ban
It sounds like Vivica A. Fox wasn't even aware of her "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" ban until Jimmy Kimmel himself started talking about it in public, though, as she gave her side of the story on the drama-stirring "Watch What Happens Live" in 2015. "I was really surprised, because I used to go on his show all the time. And there was just one time that I went on the show and he dissed my good friend Star Jones," Fox explained. She also revealed the ban was extra surprising for her to learn about so many years later, as she claimed Kimmel had privately apologized to her over their awkward interview back in the day.
For what it's worth, though, Fox isn't the only one who isn't exactly welcome on the show. Appearing on (where else?) "Watch What Happens Live" in 2019, Kimmel revealed there are at least three other people he wouldn't welcome with open arms for an interview: Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Sean Hannity. Hey, at least she's not the only one, right?
