LSU’s Angel Reese, who was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, tweeted that Biden’s comments were “a joke” as it’s not customary for a losing team to receive such an invitation.
During a recent appearance on a podcast, I AM ATHLETE with Brandon Marshall and Ashley Nicole Moss, Reese expanded on her thoughts.
“If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House,” Reese said. This was another example of the double standard that Reese faced during her tournament run.
The First Lady’s Press Secretary, Vanessa Valdivia, said Biden’s comments were meant to “applaud the historic game and all women’s athletes” and that she looks forward to celebrating LSU’s victory at the White House.
LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey initially said that the team would attend the White House. She has previously visited the White House after championship wins for Baylor in 2005 (visiting with President George W. Bush), 2012 (visiting with President Barack Obama), and 2019 (visiting with President Donald Trump).
“I don’t accept the apology because you said what you said … You can’t go back on certain things that you say … They can have that spotlight. We’ll go to the Obamas’. We’ll go see Michelle. We’ll see Barack.”
We will see if Barack and Michelle extend an invitation to Reese and her teammates, but it is also worth noting that this wouldn’t be the first time that LSU declined an invitation from the First Lady.
Reese also indicated that Biden was supposed to come to their locker room before the game, but she said the team said no.
When asked why, she said it was because President Biden “put somebody else” to win the national championship and didn’t have LSU in his bracket. For context: Biden predicted Villanova would win the title and his pre-tournament bracket did not have LSU advancing past the second round.
Asuperior court judge in Delaware overseeing Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox News hasruledthat Dominion can subpoena testimony from Fox News leadership, including parent company founder Rupert Murdoch and his son, Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch — which Fox News was hoping would be barred from trial. This comes after Dominion has presentedreams of internal communicationsthat allegedly show the Murdochs and senior Fox executives and on-air personalities knew election conspiracy theories they were airing were false.
All of this is a serious problem for Fox at trial, Axios media reporter Sarah Fischer told CNN anchor Alex Marquardt on Wednesday.
"How significant is this move by the judge?" asked Marquardt.
"It's a huge blow to Fox," said Fischer. "You know, they've been trying to push the judge for weeks, saying that Murdoch shouldn't have to testify. He already did a closed-door testimony that became public last month. And basically, this indicates that if Dominion were to subpoena either Rupert Murdoch or his son Lachlan, or both, the judge is not going to stop them from doing so, and it would be forcing those two executives to come forward and potentially have to testify not just in front of the court. And if the judge were to allow video and audio, in front of all of America."

Delaware judge willing to force Rupert Murdoch to testify in Fox News-Dominion trial
"And they're not the only ones," added Marquardt. "We know that some of Fox's biggest stars could take the stand. That includes Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and today Dominion also said that they want to force six other Fox executives to testify. So what more can you tell us about the key potential witnesses in this upcoming trial?"
"Yeah well, the biggest one would be Suzanne Scott, who is the CEO of Fox," said Fischer. "And then there are a bunch of other Fox personalities. Even Fox has said that they might call to witness some of their key posts and talent, so that would include people like maybe Brett Baier or Dana Perino, Lou Dobbs, etcetera. There's also a woman named Abby Grossberg, who was a producer that was fired from Fox and then sued the network, claiming that they coerced her in her closed-door testimony. It wouldn't shock me if Dominion also wanted to subpoena her. Truly a potentially blockbuster trial."Watch the segment below or at this link.
Altre volte siamo stati preoccupati, come per l'intervento a cuore aperto, chissà cosa doveva accadere e poi è ancora lì".
King Charles has for the first time signalled his support for research into the British monarchy’s historical links with transatlantic slavery, after the emergence of a document showing his predecessor’s stake in a slave-trading company.
Buckingham Palace released the statement after it was contacted by the Guardian about the extensive history of successive British monarchs’ involvement and investment in the enslavement of African people.
The Guardian has published a previously unseen document showing the 1689 transfer of £1,000 of shares in the slave-trading Royal African Company to King William III, from Edward Colston, the company’s deputy governor.
Buckingham Palace did not comment on the document but said it supported a research project, co-sponsored by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), which manages several palaces, into the monarchy’s involvement in the slave trade. Historians specialising in the monarchy’s centuries-long involvement in the enslavement of African people cautiously welcomed the palace’s statement but said much more needed to be done.
A spokesperson for the palace said: “This is an issue that His Majesty takes profoundly seriously. As His Majesty told the Commonwealth heads of government reception in Rwanda last year: ‘I cannot describe the depths of my personal sorrow at the suffering of so many, as I continue to deepen my own understanding of slavery’s enduring impact.’
“That process has continued with vigour and determination since His Majesty’s accession. Historic Royal Palaces is a partner in an independent research project, which began in October last year, that is exploring, among other issues, the links between the British monarchy and the transatlantic slave trade during the late 17th and 18th centuries.”
The spokesperson added: “As part of that drive, the royal household is supporting this research through access to the royal collection and the royal archives.”
It is understood to be the first time Buckingham Palace has publicly stated that it supports such research into the royal family’s troubling history.
Colston has become a notorious figure since historians and campaigners in Bristol challenged his portrayal as a benefactor in his home city, culminating in Black Lives Matter protesters toppling his statue and dumping it in Bristol harbour in 2020.
The document recording Colston’s share transfer to William III was found in the archives by Dr Brooke Newman, a historian at Virginia Commonwealth University, on a research trip to London in January.
She is writing a book, The Queen’s Silence, on the British monarchy’s involvement in slavery and its modern failure to acknowledge it. She was commissioned as a consultant by the Guardian’s Cotton Capital project, which has investigated this newspaper’s links to the enslavement of African people.

She said the Colston transfer to the king offered “clear evidence” of the British monarchy’s central involvement in the slave trade, and the importance of slavery to the monarchy’s wealth.
“There is no doubt that the centuries of investment in African slavery, and the slave trade, contributed hugely to building the status, prestige and fortune of today’s royal family,” she said. “The profits from the slave trade, and from the industries built on the labours of enslaved people, in turn funded the expansion of the empire, which generated vast further wealth for Britain and its royal families.”
King Charles has previously made public expressions of regret at the suffering that slavery inflicted, describing it as an “appalling atrocity” when visiting a former slaving fort in Ghana in November 2018. In the speech to Commonwealth nations in Rwanda last June, Charles said ways must be found to “acknowledge our past”, including slavery, which he called the “most painful period”.
Anne Hathaway’s style is becomingmore impressiveby the day. Sure, the actor has technically been in the fashion spotlight for decades, thanks to her role as Andy Sachs inThe Devil Wears Prada, but ever since she partnered withcelebrity stylist Erin Walshin 2019, her offscreen red carpet game is in a league of its own. Her outfits, whether for a film festival or a runway show never disappoint — just look at herVersace ensemblefrom March for example. On April 3, the star once again stunned the crowd. For a Bvlgari event, Hathaway wore two mini dresses and each look had a unique spin to it.
At the luxury jewelry label’s Tokyo hotel opening press conference, the actor wore her first outfit of the day: a show-stopping mini dress from Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection. The ruffled number, which was designed by Creative Director Matthew M. Williams, boasted romantic details like 3D flowers and a satin bow belt. She accessorized the look with strappy platform heels and glitzy diamond jewelry from Bvlgari, including its High Jewelry Serpenti Necklace and High Jewelry Serpenti earrings. If you didn’t know, the Wecrashed star has been a global brand ambassador for the renowned Italian jewelry company since May 2022, and is often snapped at its celebrity-packed parties.
The following day, Hathaway wore an electric purple mini dress from Valentino. The budding fashionista teamed the teeny-tiny number with coordinating grape-colored tights and the luxury label’s sky-high platform pumps. Of course, she also worked in some high-shine jewelry from Bvlgari again, like its High Jewelry necklace in pink gold plus matching earrings.
Hathaway certainly isn’t afraid to play with bold, punchy colors. If you recall, the A-lister rocked a highlighter-hued yellow ensemble at Bvlgari’s dinner last summer and previously donned a barbiecore-approved mini at Valentino’s Fall 2022 Haute Couture show.
As seen in the sneak peek video below, Rimes performs the Beach Boys song, ‘Caroline, No’ from their Pet Sounds album, in a stunningly sheer dress with a plunging neckline. She says of the Beach Boys melodies, as an artist, “you just want to sink your teeth” into them.
The Grammys Salute to the Beach Boys will air on April 9 at 8 pm ET on CBS and Paramount Plus.
Rimes wore another curve-hugging sheer dress at the Country Music Awards (CMAs), see above. She brought her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian (Sunset Beach, Third Watch, The Young and the Restless), with her to the awards ceremony.
Fun fact: In 1997, Rimes became the youngest person to win a Grammy (she was 14 years old) when she won Best New Artist (and the first country music artist to do so) and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her version of the 1958 Billy Mack song song ‘Blue.’
As noted, the actor is on quite the fashion streak with her multiple press appearances. Thus, don’t be surprised if she continues to steal the red carpet spotlight at future Hollywood festivities. For fans who want to channel Hathaway’s flirty and vibrant energy, pick up the pieces needed to recreate both her Valentino and Givenchy ensembles ahead.

NEAR BAKHMUT, Ukraine (Reuters) -Ukrainian and Russian forces battled on Thursday in the streets of Bakhmut, eastern Ukraine's devastated "fortress" city, and Ukrainian soldiers said they were ready to launch their long-anticipated counter-offensive once the weather improves.
On the diplomatic front, French President Emmanuel Macron urged Chinese leader Xi Jinping during talks in Beijing to use his influence to persuade Russia to halt the war and come to the negotiating table. Xi said he hoped such talks could start soon.
However, an adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin rated the chances of peace talks starting this year at "zero".
The months-long battle for Bakhmut, one of the last urban centres in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk province yet to fall to Moscow, has proven one of the bloodiest of Russia's invasion, now in its 14th month.
"The battles for Bakhmut continue," said Andriy Yermak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
"They are underway in the streets, enemy attempts to encircle the city are failing. Our command fully control the situation with the defensive 'fortress'," he said, using the nickname Zelenskiy gave to the city.
The leader of Russia's private Wagner militia, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said fighting was continuing in the west of the city.
"It must be said clearly that the enemy is not going anywhere," he said on his Telegram channel.
Western analysts have played down the strategic significance of Bakhmut but Ukraine has framed its dogged defence of what is now a completely destroyed city as a way of wearing down Russian forces. Both sides have suffered huge casualties there.
"Bakhmut is performing the key task of inflicting as many losses on Russia as possible and, most importantly, to prepare for a counter-attack to take place in late April-May," Pavlo Narozhniy, a Ukrainian military analyst, told NV Radio.
Fighting is also raging further south in Avdiivka, a town near the regional capital of Donetsk, he added.

Oh how times have changed!Aubrey Plazaclaimed that the director told her to masturbate “like it says in the script” while filming a scene for the 2013 movieThe To-Do List, which she starred in alongsideRachel BilsonandBill Hader.
The movie has recently seen a bump in interest due to Plaza’s stardom and her NSFW scene — and because of that, her 2013 interview on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien has resurfaced.
In the interview, Plaza opened up about her experience filming the scene, which featured her “pleasuring herself.”
Nowadays, it’s common to have an intimacy coordinator on set to facilitate conversations between the actors and the director, as well as to ensure a safe filming environment, but it sounds like that wasn’t the case when Plaza starred in the romantic comedy.
The actor recalled being told by writer-director Maggie Carey to “masturbate like it says in the script.”
Plaza explained that when she read the scene in the script, she envisioned it being a cutaway scene; however, when it came to the day of filming, she was proven to be sorely mistaken.
“When I showed up, the camera was mounted on the ceiling and I was in my underwear and a Clinton T-Shirt, and there were a bunch of old men smoking,” she said, later identifying them as “the crew guys.”
Plaza continued, “I thought I was doing one thing and then when I showed up, it was a whole different thing, it was a full body shot. And I asked the director, ‘What should I do?’ And she said, ‘Masturbate, like it says in the script.'”
But Carey remembers the process being much-more collaborative than Plaza stated. In a 2013 interview with Vulture, the director said that it was Plaza’s idea to hump a pillow during the masturbation scene.
When asked about the directorial choice, she said, “It was Aubrey Plaza. She’s genius. She was like, ‘Hey, Mags, come in here’ — we had blocked the scene, and I was back at the monitor — and Aubrey was like, ‘Mags, come back in here, I have a question,’ and she was like, ‘Is that too much?’ and I was like, ‘We have to do that. Nothing is too much in this movie.’ Aubrey is game for anything, she’ll try anything; she’s not afraid to be vulnerable or put herself in awkward positions.”
Carey compared the scene to Natalie Portman masturbating in The Black Swan, saying, “I was just laughing how Natalie Portman masturbates in that movie and it’s a lot different than Aubrey Plaza masturbating in The To-Do List. When you do see women masturbating, it’s usually a male fantasy about a woman masturbating, it’s not what actually happens.”
n her first major interview since Donald Trump’s indictment, Stormy Daniels has said that while she wants the former president to be “held accountable” she doesn’t believe he should go to prison.
“I don’t think that his crimes against me are worthy of incarceration. I feel like the other things that he has done, if he is found guilty, absolutely,” Daniels, 44, said in an interview with Fox Nation’s Piers Morgan released on Thursday.
Daniels sat down with Morgan for a 1.5 hour interview, which she called her most extensive yet. She thanked people for “love and support” in a tweet, saying that the segment “laid to rest a lot of misinformation”.
When asked by Morgan how it felt to see Trump appear in court, Daniels said she was “shocked”. “I thought he was going to get away with not being accountable,” she said.
“The king has been dethroned – he’s no longer untouchable,” she said. “Nobody should be untouchable, doesn’t matter what your job description is – whether you’re the president – you should be held responsible for your actions.”

Daniels, who postponed the original timing of her interview with Morgan last week citing “security concerns”, said she was also regularly receiving threats. She told Morgan that one in ten messages she gets now are death threats, and that the tone has become increasingly violent.
Woods teed off in the first round at 10:18 am ET on Thursday, and that's ideal for the 47-year-old.
The morning tee time isn't so early that he had to rush to the course. It also means Tiger will likely finish his first round before the expected afternoon rain showers.
However, most importantly, the early tee time means Woods will tee off as one of the last groups on Friday — at 1:24 pm ET. That gives Woods and his ailing body extra time to recover after the opening round.
Before the tournament, Woods spoke during a press conference about how endurance has been his biggest challenge since the car accident.
"The ability and endurance of what my leg will do going forward will never be the same, I understand that," Woods said, later adding: "I just have to be cognizant of how much I can push it. Like Rory was saying, I can hit a lot of shots, but the difficulty for me is going to be the walking going forward. It is what it is. I wish it could be easier. I've got three more years, where I get the little buggy and be out there with Fred, but until then, no buggy."
Jack Nicklaus recently revealed that Woods plans to play on golf's senior tour, the PGA Tour Champions, when he turns 50. That tour allows players to use buggies, or golf carts, in non-majors.
The director added that was important for her to play up the comedy in the scene to match the rest of the movie.
While the two make the ordeal sound all-fun-and-games, Plaza has gotten real about filming the specific scene, telling OregonLive that it was “nerve-wracking.”
“Looking back on it, I feel like the masturbating scene was a little bit the most nerve-racking. Just because in my head I thought, ‘Oh, we’ll probably shoot this in a way where I don’t really have to really do it.’ But then when we did it and I was like, ‘Oh no, we’re going to shoot it where I do it,'” she said.
As the comedy queen has well taught us by now –— through her many funny-yet-troubled roles — sometimes laughter is the best medicine. We’re glad Plaza can laugh this one off!

The Israeli military originally urged civilians in the south to remain near shelters but later lifted the order, suggesting some kind of informal truce may have been reached.
Nonetheless, a shooting attack in the occupied West Bank’s Jordan Valley left two Israeli women dead and another critically injured, the army reported at midday.
The military earlier said it wasn’t seeking more confrontation. “Quiet will be answered with quiet,” said Lt. Col. Richard Hecht, a spokesman for the Israeli military, in an early briefing Friday. “Nobody wants an escalation right now.”
The fighting broke out after confrontations that began at the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem in the midst of the overlap between the holy Muslim month of Ramadan and the Jewish feast of Passover. Young men barricaded themselves into a prayer room at Al Aqsa with crude weapons, Israeli police reported on Wednesday night. The police went in to clear them out, triggering outrage from Hamas, which launched rockets.
Friday prayers at Al Aqsa will pose another test for the Israeli authorities who are seeking to maintain calm.
Good Friday and Easter will only add to crowd size and tensions in and around Jerusalem.
The US says it is very concerned about the rising violence and has called on all sides to de-escalate

Despite being stable for years, the rim of the sinkhole in Daisetta, southeastern Texas began crumbling once again on Sunday.
Residents said it sounded like ‘gunshots’ were coming from the ground.
After going to bed they woke up to find it had gained around 150ft in both width and depth.
Neighbour Linda Hoover told KTRK: ‘We just never thought it would start again.
‘When we bought our house a few years ago, we were under the understanding that it was stabilised.’
She and her family had packed their bags – ready to flee in case the hole overcame them.
Some residents said they were losing sleep over fears the hole would destroy them all.

Jordana Priessler said: ‘I was having a lot of trouble going to sleep last night because I didn’t know if we were going to get swallowed up. My family told me it happened kind of fast before.’
The hole first began growing 15 years ago – starting at around 20ft – but soon expanded to be 900ft across and 250ft deep.
It swallowed up cars, oil tanks, and even power lines, sending the small town into a panic.
Pictures show a building beginning to tip over the edge of the hole.

An Australian man was charged with stealing a platypus from its wild habitat and taking the animal on a tour of a Queensland town, local police said.
The suspect, a 26-year-old man, grabbed the platypus from a river and carried it onto a public train on Tuesday morning, BBC News reported. Queensland Police shared surveillance images of the man and an accompanying woman boarding the train around 11 a.m.
"Two people were observed boarding a train at Morayfield Station with the animal wrapped in a towel, patting it and showing it to fellow commuters, it's believed the pair were travelling toward Caboolture," the police update read.

The couple took the platypus on a tour through various shops and public spaces, the BBC reported. The man showed the animal off, allowed people to pat it, and then released it into a river, police told the BBC.
Police asked the public for any news on the platypus on Wednesday, requesting information on the identity and location of the couple as well as the return of the platypus.
"The animal may become sick, be diseased or die the longer is it out of the wild and should not be fed or introduced to a new environment," the update said.
Police identified the man and woman but haven't been able to locate the platypus, the BBC reported.
A California man who was on a quest to find youth and fortune by eating human flesh has been sentenced to decades behind bars.
In December 2018, Francis Wolke, 30, murdered Kathy Hughes Anderson, a 62-year-old retired arborist, in her Menlo Park home. The Palo Alto Daily Post reported the defendant nearly decapitated the victim after stabbing her in the eye.
On April 5, Wolke was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison for first-degree murder, according to the outlet.
Palo Alto Online reported Wolke had entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity in San Mateo County Superior Court after he was charged in the case.
Defense attorneys tried to argue Wolke, who reportedly had a history of heavy methamphetamine use and experienced auditory hallucinations, believed if he committed cannibalism, he would “stay young forever” and join the “1%” of people who eat human protein to become rich.
The defense also claimed Wolke believed voices had urged him to kill.
Wolke, however, had no drugs in his system when he murdered Anderson, and prosecutors noted that in the weeks following his arrest, the defendant neither reported experiencing auditory hallucinations nor was observed talking to himself, according to Palo Alto Online.
Wolke was later determined to be legally sane when he committed the slaying.

Platypuses are endemic to Australia, according to the Australian Museum, and have a protected status, meaning they're not endangered but "near threatened."
Mary and Frederik continued to date long-distance, going under the radar of the world press, while Mary moved to Copenhagen, converted to the Lutheran Church, and began learning Danish. In 2003, the couple announced their engagement.
The pair were married on May 14, 2004, at Copenhagen Cathedral.

One of Slim’s most impressive homes is this stately Manhattan townhouse, which he recently relisted for $80 million (£66.6m). Slim had previously listed the building for the same price back in 2015, a record-breaking asking price for the city at the time, the New York Post reports. Even today the property has the highest list price of any townhouse for sale in the area, and if it manages to secure a buyer, will break the record for the most expensive townhouse ever sold in the Big Apple.

Slim purchased the townhouse from the late Russian oil titan Tamir Sapir in 2010 for $44 million (£36.7m). However, with its location on Fifth Avenue in the luxurious Upper East Side and its Gilded Age glamour, the home’s eight-figure asking price is not hard to understand. Built between 1899 and 1901, the red-brick and limestone townhouse boasts 20,000-square-feet across five stories, with spectacular views of Central Park on one side, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which stands directly across the street, on the other.

The home is full of spectacular original detailing, including marble fireplaces, parquet floors, ornate plaster-moulded ceilings and an impressive grand staircase, which climbs up all five stories. The home offers eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, with 25 rooms in total. The palatially proportioned entertaining rooms on the first and second floors just cry out to host large events and are highly reminiscent of the days of balls and banquets for which they were originally built.

Known as the Benjamin N. Duke House, the home was designed by the firm of Welch, Smith & Provot in the Italian Renaissance Palazzo style and is one of the last of the luxurious mansions that line Fifth Avenue to remain privately owned, the listing notes. Indeed, the listing goes on to suggest that while the house is suitable for private ownership, it is also ideally suited to be turned into a gallery, store, museum, or foundation given its enormous size and prime location.

Very few singers can call themselves billionaires—but Rihanna certainly can. The Super Bowl halftime show star is now a fully-fledged business mogul, thanks to her hugely successful beauty brand, Fenty. In August 2021, Forbes declared Barbados-born Rihanna America's youngest self-made female billionaire and estimated her fortune to be in the region of $1.7 billion (£1.4b). Fans of the singer will already know that she has an amazing property portfolio. Let's take a look at her newest purchase.

In early 2021—not long after things got serious with rapper A$AP Rocky, with whom she now shares a son and another on the way—Rihanna snapped up this sprawling five-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion in the exclusive 90210 zip code of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The Umbrella singer put down $13.8 million (£11.5m) for the spread and we can totally understand why...

The 5,900-square-foot residence is surrounded by other celebrity homes and was built in 1938. Formerly owned by Mary Sheldon, daughter of legendary novelist and screenwriter Sidney Sheldon, the pad was later bought by tech entrepreneur Daniel Starr, who demolished and rebuilt the home, resulting in the real estate gem we see today. The ultra-contemporary farmhouse blends modern and traditional design elements to dazzling effect.

Throughout the home you'll find plenty of open-plan spaces for socialising, including an intimate lounge area, a luxurious wet bar and a designer kitchen. The master bedroom comes complete with huge walk-in closets and a stunning ensuite bathroom with a garden-view bathtub and enviable walk-in shower. The room leads out to a sun-trap terrace – the perfect spot for stargazing.

Many of the interior spaces flow out to the garden, where an alfresco courtyard, a four-car garage, a firepit, swimming pool and spa amenities can be found. In the summer of 2021, the star put the property up for rent, asking a cool $80,000 (£67k) a month. Rihanna now likely lives in a Tudor-style home located right next door. She bought the neighbouring historic home in April 2021 for $10 million (£8.3m) and we can't wait to see what she does with the place!

The son of a grocer, Ron Burkle started working at the age of 13, showing incredible entrepreneurial drive while still in his early teens. In 1986, he founded The Yucaipa Companies, a private equity and venture capital firm, accruing his fortune buying and selling supermarket chains across America. Today, he's thought to be worth $3.2 billion (£2.7b) and has snapped up an impressive array of celebrity-worthy homes.

In 2016, Burkle bought Bob Hope’s iconic spaceship house in Palm Springs for $13 million (£10.8m). The futuristic home was designed by architect John Lautner and is considered one of the coolest homes in the USA. A huge fan of Bob Hope, Burkle later snapped up another of the late comedian's properties, this lavish Toluca Lake estate. This time, Burkle paid $15 million (£12.5m), which is a bit of a bargain considering the place was originally listed for $27.5 million (£22.9m).

There are 10 bedrooms, 12 white Carrera marble bathrooms, an oak library, an open-plan living room, a banquet-worthy dining room and a high-end kitchen, not to mention a saltwater pool, a one-hole golf course designed by Hope himself, a home theatre, gym and infrared sauna. Yet this isn't the only incredible home that Burkle has bought over the years...

Burkle was lucky enough to buy one of the most celebrated pieces of architecture in America, Ennis House. The pad was made famous by its starring role in the iconic movie Blade Runner, but was also used as the set of Meereen Palace in the hit TV series Game of Thrones. Designed by celebrated architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Ennis House was completed in 1924 and was inspired by the Mayan temples of Mexico and Central America. Burkle bought the place in 2011, for $4.5 million (£3.8m).

The home is formed from 27,000 interlocking concrete blocks, which can be seen both inside and out, while free-flowing rooms and 27 intricate leaded windows allow for unobstructed skyline views. Inside, the 10,000-square-foot home has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a formal dining room, a living room and a kitchen. Following an earthquake, Burkle is said to have spent nearly $17 million (£14.3m) restoring the residence, before off-loading it in 2018 for $18 million (£15.5m).

Jeff Bezos has a slew of extravagant properties at his disposal. The Amazon founder and recent space tourist, who is now worth in excess of $115.4 billion (£96.1bn), has been busily buying up lavish properties following his 2019 divorce, expanding a real estate folio which already includes a sprawling compound in Medina, Washington and an imposing mansion in America's capital.

Not long after his divorce from MacKenzie Scott was finalised, the centibillionaire dropped around $80 million (£67m) on an incredible triplex penthouse and two apartments below it in Manhattan's 212 Fifth Avenue, an elegant 24-storey neo-Gothic skyscraper built in 1912, overlooking Madison Square Park.

The handiwork of top interior design studio Pembrooke & Ives, the sensational five-bedroom, five-bathroom penthouse spans 10,000 square feet and offers 5,000 square feet of outside space. The multilevel rooftop terraces and garden area really are something else, with a pool, an observatory and lush landscaping. Bezos followed up his big purchase by snapping up an additional unit in 2021 for $16 million (£13.5m), no doubt with plans to create one almighty combined unit that'll be the envy of the Big Apple.

Earlier in 2020, the world's richest person parted with a record $165 million (£139m) to acquire the fabled Warner Estate in Beverly Hills. Formerly owned by billionaire music industry mogul David Geffen, the majestic compound boasts an eight-bedroom Georgian-style manse and two guesthouses. Several months later, Bezos reportedly bought an adjacent property for $10 million (£8.4m); clearly one enviable home just isn't enough!
In 2010 Kafarski opted to merge the family business with another firm and move to Madison Heights, leaving the old factory without a single rent-paying resident. Kafarski acknowledged the history of the place, but said its degeneration was a sign of Michigan’s decaying auto industry.

10 Ridiculously Stupid Scams People Continue To Fall For
Austin's billionaires are still rich, just a little less rich than a year ago, per Forbes' annual billionaire list.
Driving the news: The annual list of the world's richest people, published Wednesday, found that nearly half of all billionaires are poorer than they were a year ago due to falling stocks and rising interest rates.
The U.S. is still home to the most billionaires, with 735 Americans making the list for a collective net worth of $4.5 trillion.

Zoom in: Dell Technologies founder and chairman Michael Dell also saw his net worth slide from $55.1 billion to $50.1 billion, moving from No. 16 on the Forbes list in 2022 to No. 23 this year. Other Austin residents on the list include:
Robert Smith, founder of Austin-based Vista Equity, ranked No. 261 with a net worth of $8 billion, an increase from $6.7 billion in 2022.
Thai Lee, CEO of IT provider SHI, ranked No. 567 and saw her net worth increase from $4.1 billion in 2022 to $4.8 billion.
John Paul DeJoria, founder of Patron Spirits Co. and co-founder of hair care company John Paul Mitchell Systems, saw his $2.9 billion net worth drop slightly from last year.
Joe Liemandt, founder of ESW Capital, ranks 611 and grew his net worth from $3 billion to $4.5 billion.
David Booth, co-founder of Dimensional Fund Advisors, saw his $1.7 billion net worth remain roughly the same from 2022.
In December 2022, Austin was home to 30,500 millionaires, 86 centi-millionaires, and nine billionaires, the report found. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. is inviting users to test the company’s in-house artificial intelligence tool, the latest attempt from a Chinese tech behemoth to rival OpenAI’s powerful ChatGPT.
The company’s cloud computing unit is offering invitation codes to some corporate customers so they can try out the large language model called “Tongyi Qianwen,” according to an announcement posted on the subsidiary’s official WeChat account. The name, partly derived from the ancient philosopher Mencius, translates roughly to “Truth from a Thousand Questions.” Alibaba Cloud’s website for the service is only in Chinese, suggesting it could be used primarily to process queries in the e-commerce giant’s home language.
Alibaba Cloud is slated to host a technology summit next Tuesday in Beijing, where Chief Executive Officer Daniel Zhang will deliver a speech, the company said in a separate statement.
Alibaba rose as much as 2.5% in Hong Kong on Thursday after a report said the Chinese technology giant was planning to launch its own AI tool this month. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange is closed for holiday on Friday.

Alibaba-Linked Shares Rally on Report of ChatGPT-Like Tool Plan
OpenAI, the US maker of ChatGPT, kicked off a frenzy of interest in the technology as its services promise to remake businesses from online search and advertising to health care. Microsoft Corp. is pouring $10 billion into OpenAI in what’s seen as a bid to challenge Google in its lucrative search operation.
Shares of a number of Chinese AI companies advanced this week following reports of their own AI tools’ release. SenseTime Group Inc., also listed in Hong Kong, rose in the past five trading days after speculation that China’s most valuable specialty AI company was preparing to launch a challenger to ChatGPT.
China’s hype over indigenous ChatGPT rivals was ignited by search engine provider Baidu Inc., whose Ernie Bot launch last month failed to wow investors.
Of note: The Forbes list isn't searchable by city of origin, so it's difficult to know the exact number of Austin-based billionaires that made the analysis.

One of the perks of working for so many years is that at retirement age you can finally start to take your Social Security benefits. While you can begin to receive Social Security income as early as age 62, the longer you wait, the closer you get to receiving your full benefits, at age 66 and older. While this income may not be enough to live on by itself, it’s a welcome addition to mostretirees.
Therefore, it can be a rude awakening to many retirees to learn that the federal government, in certain circumstances, taxes Social Security benefits. Even more surprising to some is that certain individual states also apply their own income tax to Social Security payouts. Fortunately, not many states fall into this category. Even those that do tax Social Security often provide exemptions or ways to reduce or eliminate the tax, typically based on age or income. Here’s a list of the states that don’t tax Social Security.

Britney Spears is back at it again! The princess of pop took to Instagram to share her latest sweaty dance video while rocking a green, off-the-shoulder mini dress and a pair of stylish sunglasses.
"I was hot in my car 🥵☀️🚘," she captioned a Wednesday, April 5, clip of her dancing in front of a painted wall. "Saw some pink graffiti and played 😳😳😳🙄🙄🙄 !!!"
Although Spears locked the comments section leaving followers unable to remark on the suggestive sweat marks on her dress via Instagram, several fans reshared the video on Twitter with mixed reactions.
"It's kinda like watching a car accident video isn't it," one less-than-enthusiastic critic replied, while another firmly declared, "sweat is not sexy." A third noted the video left them "really confused on how to feel."
"Britney Spears boob sweat post is literally me all summer HAHAHA," one Twitter user joked, and another added, "I saw Britney Spears wearing a green dress while having boob sweat so now I want a green dress so I can rock the fact I have boob sweat."
